Multi-Layered | A self-taught decorator, Michael Katz infused the living room of his East Hampton home with a relaxed but sophisticated air. He designed many of the upholstered pieces, including the sofa and chaise. The cowhide chairs are from Belvair for Modern Living, the olivewood coffee table is from Robert Massello, and the wicker stool is from Crate & Barrel.
Kitchen Magic | Katz kept it simple in the kitchen by painting the existing cabinets black and staining the floors a medium gray. He surrounded the new limestone island with bar stools from Pottery Barn.
Hang In There | The family room boasts a mix of new and old: a Nancy Corzine sofa upholstered in a Kravet ultrasuede, a Lucite coffee table, a vintage chair covered in a Lee Jofa fabric and a Robert Rauschenberg print.
Chrome Heart | Katz, working at a 1960s chrome and glass console by Robert Massello in his office, accumulated the set of Milo Baughman dining chairs over a period of two years.
