A Frank Lloyd Wright Home in the Hudson Valley Lists for $1.5M

This is the iconic architect's only home along the West Bank of the Hudson River.

An architectural gem tucked onto 2.5 acres in Clausland Mountain Park and not far from the Hudson River is on the market for $1.525 million. This circa-1960 home designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright in Blauvelt, New York is the only one of Wright’s homes located on the West Bank of the Hudson River.

Wright is best known for the Guggenheim Museum, his Pennsylvania build called “Fallingwater,” and his winter home named “Taliesin West” in Arizona. He also designed properties in towns not far from this Hudson Valley home, in Carmel, Rye, and New Canaan. This Blauvelt home, dubbed the “Socrates Zaferiou House,” sits in a beautifully wooded area and is completely private. This residence reflects the architect’s signature Usonian-style, which is characterized by one-story builds, natural elements, and completely flat roofs.

Rich wood siding lines the interior of the home, accented by open spaces and large windows to bring light in. The 2,619-square-foot home feels cozy from its dreamy living area to its open concept kitchen, and Wright’s signature redwood flooring. There are four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms to round out the interior spaces.

Richard Ellis and Brandon Wagner of Sotheby’s International Realty hold the rare listing.
