The library sits apart from the house and overlooks the lake.
In the entrance, a dramatic, mirrored verdigris copper architectural antique is flanked by a pair of Louis XV armchairs.
The dining room has sunlight streaming in from both sides of the space. The curtains are embroidered by Lesage. Couturier had an original eighteenth-century chair from Connecticut copied to make a dining room set.
Above the formal salon fireplace is a wonderful portrait of Lady Elizabeth Dormer by the seventeenth-century artist Gilbert Jackson.
Couturier’s partner, Jeffrey Morgan, is an accomplished cook and enjoys the large new kitchen. Couturier chose GE Monogram appliances, and ceiling lights from Restoration Hardware.
The back of the house looks onto a parterre garden, which is on a raised terrace. Assisted by the designer Clive Lodge, Couturier planned this corner of the garden to look good year-round.
