Above the fireplace hangs Callum Innes’ oil on canvas, Exposed Painting: Vine Black; the side wall features a piece in found and cut wood, Shim Soo Koo’s Like a Wind.
David Nash’s 1999 work, Beech Fissures, featuring two black panels of cut and burnt wood, anchors the living room. The red ceramic vessel is Mexican circa 200 BC, and the polished obsidian sculpture on the coffee table is Mexican circa 600–900 AD.
Conrad Marca-Relli’s The Raiders, 1955, is the stunning central work of the gallery room. A work in bronze by Antoine Bourdelle, Medusa, 1925, rests atop a table by Maya Lin surrounded by B&B Italia chairs.
Cherner counter stools provide seating at a sleek kitchen island. Appliances are Miele; fixtures are Dornbracht.
The dining room features Sean Scully’s Mérida Triptych and Alfred Haberpointner’s Gehacktes Objekt. The dining table is B&B Italia; Saarinen chairs and George Nelson Saucer pendant light are through Design Within Reach.
In the first-floor passage, another work in wood by David Nash, 5 Deep/Chunky, is in formal dialogue with the stairs.
Gary Blum’s Lone sounds a quiet note above a striking black Niels Bendtsen bed through Hive Modern. Side table and lamp are also from Hive Modern. Bedding is through the Company Store.
