An estate in the Cocoplum subdivision of Coral Gables just sold for $19 million, making it the most expensive property ever unloaded in the affluent community. While any seller would drink to such an accomplishment, previous owner and Bacardi heiress Hilda Maria Bacardi certainly has her pick of the finest spirits to do so.
Dubbed “Casa Costanera”, the Miami mansion is described by brokers Barbara Estela and Hilda Jacobson of Douglas Elliman as a “modern Mediterranean”. The estate, set on a 1.3-acre lot, finished construction only two years ago in May 2016. Months later, in August 2016, Bacardi put the home on the market for a steep $27.26 million, reports Curbed.
Within its colossal 21,000 square feet of space, the home features 13 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, three full kitchens, a two-bedroom guest house, separate quarters for staff, and an elevator. If all of that feels too stuffy, the impressively manicured outdoor spaces offer plenty of room to lounge poolside, as well as 400 feet waterfront land.
Bacardi is the great-great-granddaughter of Bacardi Rum Company founder Facundo Bacardí Massó. Originally trading exclusively in its titular rum, the company has expanded its roster to include other favorites such as Dewar’s, Grey Goose, Martini & Rossi, and Patrón.
