‘Back to the Future’ Star Christopher Lloyd Lists a Revamped Hilltop Stunner in Santa Barbara

While you may know him best from the iconic 1980s film franchise ‘Back to the Future,’ Christopher Lloyd has a home up for sale that’s design aesthetic is firmly rooted in the present. The actor and his wife, Lisa Lloyd, purchased the 2,880-square-foot residence in the hills of Santa Barbara in 2017 and remodeled it to it with relaxing style that feels fresh, organic, and current. Now, they’re looking to sell the hilltop pad with mesmerizing landscaping and views for $6.385 million.

Serving as a primary residence for the couple, who have lived in the area since 1996, the home is set behind gates and offers just the right amount of space for them as well as visitors. The main house holds two bedrooms and gorgeous open living areas, while the guest cottage provides another bedroom and a bit more privacy.

The property underwent two remodels under their care, with the interiors getting an overhaul most recently. Lisa, who has remodeled more than six of her homes and always intended to transform this property, is a lifelong design enthusiast and devised much of the design direction herself. Going with a warm, minimalist look, she infused the spaces with a blend of soft neutrals. Woven, layered light fixtures in the main living room and a feather-y chandelier in the dining area show how Lisa went bold playing with proportion and texture while keeping the color palette rather muted. At various points, she collaborated with DesignARC of Santa Barbara for architectural input, Arcadia Studio’s Kaylee Grub for the landscape design, and Los Angeles-based artisan Patty Grant for custom paint and finishes.

“This home has been a special place for us, our sanctuary. Lisa and her creative team took great care in every detail, wanting to create a space that feels restorative and peaceful the moment you walk through the door,” shares the ‘Addam Family’ and ‘Taxi’ actor.

Ron Brand & Arthur Kalayjian of Compass Montecito hold the celebrity listing.
