Barack Obama's Former Park Slope Townhouse Lists for $4.3M

A recently listed $4.3M townhouse in Park Slope has the unique distinction of being the former home of Barack Obama after he graduated from Columbia University. In his bookentitled Barack Obama: The Story, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Maraniss wrote that Obama and his then-girlfriend rented a top-floor unit in the mid-1980s. The townhouse has since been converted into a single-family unit.

Built in 1903, the home has retained all of its historic charm as well as some notable period details. An original china cabinet can be found in the double parlor and the third floor houses a rare Victorian inglenook. The garden level kitchen has been recently renovated and features slate and soapstone countertops flanked by custom cabinetry and high-end appliances. The oversized garden is a unique element of this home.

Brown Harris Stevens’ Charles L. Ruoff and Alexis Kravitz represent the listing, which Mansion Global reported.
