It looks like someone new might move into Bob Dylan’s longtime Scottish Highlands home by the new year, and what better way to head into 2024? Yes, Dylan’s Aultmore House–owned by the world-famous musician and his brother since 2006–has found a buyer. The £3 million listing is labeled as “Sold STC” online, which essentially translates into “In contract” in UK real estate lingo.
The ultra-private, 25-acre estate is centered by a beautiful Edwardian-style manor commissioned by Aberdonian industrialist, Archibald Merrilees, and built between 1911 and 1915. Today, it truly feels like you’re stepping back in time as you wander the gracious, Downtown Abbey-esque residence. Within the lavish layout, there are stately elements like marble fireplaces, detailed plasterwork, and timber floors. The home’s high ceilings and mountain views create an expansive airiness and majesty, too. Dylan could host or write within the gala-worthy reception rooms and host guests in the home’s 12 bedrooms on the ground floor, seven bedrooms upstairs, and three staff bedrooms. And, it takes a village to run this place.
Tom Stewart-Moore of Knight Frank had some insight for The Scottish Sun. The listing agent shared: “They bought it as a base. They’ve not been able to use it in recent years and that’s the reason for the sale. Up until about pre-Covid, Bob and his brother would normally go there for a few weeks a year. They have staff who run the property and it’s in very good order. The house and the cottages are let during the summer.”
Indeed, the estate’s four-bedroom cottages have long been available to book for idyllic, Scottish stays. Perhaps the new owner will follow suit. Offering over 18,000 square feet in total and a greenhouse on the grounds, the estate provides ample space to utilize.
