My favorite cover is from the December issue, it reminds me of the sharp contrasts of the holiday season. There is something beautiful and calming about the simplicity of this winter scene. —DJ Carey, Editorial DirectorI picked the December issue. I’m partial to barns—I own an antique barn upstate—its beams are actual logs—someday I’d love to fashion it into a library big enough to hold the collection of books which are currently stacked all over the floor of my NYC apartment.—Sharon King Hoge, Editor at Large
The May issue cover is my favorite. This tranquil scene was photographed by George Ross in Litchfield County and I find it irresistibly inviting. My eye is drawn through the hedges into the sunny clearing and beyond. I want to meander down the shady driveway near the split rail fence and explore this hidden gem of a property in Lakeville. The image and cover blurb, Gardens Take Shape, melt together as one seamless message and perfectly tee up the four stunning and distinct gardens that are featured inside. —Julie Curtis, Design/Photographer Director
My favorite CTC&G cover of 2018 is from the February issue. I love the synergy between the words and the playful colors and whimsical wallpaper. It also says that these homeowners are not timid about making their home truly their own. The best part of the annual color issue? It’s the perfect antidote to winter’s chill… just cozy up and leaf through pages and pages of color—a reminder that spring is around the corner!” —Catriona Branca, Executive Editor
My pick is the October issue, “Designers at Home.” I was drawn to the graphic, fearless wallpaper and our striking cover girl, designer Linherr Hollingsworth. She looks so relaxed and comfortable—a feeling we hope all our readers can achieve in their own homes. Hollingsworth illustrates that a well-designed home can be both elegant and comfortable for a family. It is always fun to peek inside a designer’s home, to experience a place where they have creative license, and their true sense of style is revealed. —Mary Fitzgerald, Senior Associate Editor
This tranquil, dreamscape of a cover from the June issue puts you right into the scene. You imagine yourself sitting on the comfortable couch on the deck with the firepit taking the chill out of the still cool June air, looking out to a distant view over the water with the boats anchored off shore. The aspirational image tells a story of a lifestyle on the water and the occupants’ anticipation of another summer. —Baroness Sheri De Borchgrave, Wine and Dine Spirits Columnist
My favorite cover from 2018 is from the November issue. It’s clean, chic and modern, but at the same time relaxed and inviting. The touches of red – from the scarlet flower arrangement to the chair and ottoman – all add warmth to the minimalist aesthetic, while the cowhide chair provides a striking and imaginative counterpoint. —Harriet Mays Powell, Writer
