It isn’t often that I do a double take on a piece of furniture, that is until today. I received a press release from the Italian design company, Moroso introducing the new Soft Wood sofa by Swedish design group Front to the US market. Soft Wood challenges our perceptions: it looks like a primitive piece of furniture made from rough-hewn pine. A second look reveals a silk smooth textile with a photorealistic wood print cover on a polyurethane form. Soft Wood illustrates the difference between the visual and tactile experience. www.morosousa.com
