Though Lana Del Rey’s lyrics tend to praise the virtues of excess, the singer’s most recent property purchase is decidedly more modest. The indie songstress dropped $1.178 million on a charming wood cabin in the trendy Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, an area known for its hipster population and celebrity draw. Del Rey may have been attracted to the home’s vintage beauty, having written songs previously about having an old soul.Originally constructed in 1911, the two-bedroom, one-bathroom home spans a cozy 1,200-square-feet across one level. The home’s rustic interiors come courtesy of the home’s seller, designer Leanne Ford, who restored and updated the entire property for her HGTV series “Restored by the Fords.” Another selling point for Del Rey was likely one of the home’s previous owners, Clara Kimball Young, a silent film star who would become one of the first women in Hollywood to own a film studio. The cottage features natural materials such as exposed wood beams and stone floors, while French doors in the back of the home open onto a beautiful stone patio. With such a serene sanctuary now on her hands, it’s hard to imagine del Rey will experience any more ‘Summertime Sadness.’Diana Braun of Compass had the listing, which Variety first reported sold.
