Rock legend Tom Petty is known for creating brilliant music, but his former Encino Mansion proves that the musician also had a talent when it came to houses. The residence, which was custom-built by Petty in the 1980’s, is now for sale. Petty’s ex-wife gained the mansion after the couple’s divorce and subsequently lost the property to foreclosure in 2015, Variety reports. While the new owners made renovations to the house, the heart of Petty’s custom creation beats fervently through the walls.Priced at close to $5M, the colossal house offers six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and seemingly endless spaces to relax and entertain. The listing, held by Craig Knizek and Ninkey Dalton of The Agency, notes the modernized architecture, stunning driftwood beams and soaring ceilings. Music enthusiasts will delight in knowing the pool house once housed Petty’s recording studio. Today, a lounge, wine cellar, exercise room and kitchen occupy the space.Buyers who are in the market for a home brimming with history yet delight in modernized features will be enchanted by the luxurious house. Coincidentally, another of Petty’s properties is also on the market. A water front villa on Lake Sherwood, reminiscent of an Italian countryside estate, was listed in 2017 and has yet to find a buyer.
