The re-beautification of a guest bedroom includes a soothing palette with pops of lavendar and blue.
On the walls of the dining room, exuberant Maharani wallpaper is from Osborne & Little. Jonathan Adler’s Ventana chandelier for Robert Abbey is suspended above RH’s monastery dining table.
The living room’s traditional architecture is eased by a playful approach to pattern mixing that includes Jim Thompson’s Tiger Tiger print on a sofa and console, plus Brunschwig & Fils’ Les Touches dressing an ottoman. In the window bay, a pair of chairs sport fresh Jonathan Adler cut velvet.
A collection of paintings grouped over the sofa was created for the homeowners by South African-born artist Janice Slom.
Large windows cast abundant light into the spacious family room/kitchen. For the seating area, a sofa re-covered in a teal moire mingles with a pair of swivels in Schumacher’s Chiang Mai Dragon and a couple of midcentury lounge chairs accented with sheepskin seat covers.
Thomas O’Brien Hicks Globe pendants illuminate a large kitchen island. Knapp’s tweaks included painting the cabinets a crisp shade of Super White and adding contemporary counter stools in the Chiang Mai Dragon print.
When guests arrive in the front foyer, the large-scaled floor stencil and pair of Foo dogs indicate that the house is full of surprises.
The Nobilis Faux Bois wallpaper, emerald green Kravet cowhide ottoman and Trovare Home desk were already installed in the office when Knapp took over. Her finishing touches include adding a 5-inch-wide trim to the existing curtains and creating a mirrored chest by refinishing two new side tables and unifying them with a mirrored top. An original Liu Bolin piece, part of his Invisible Man series, is one of the homeowner’s most unusual acquisitions.
In a girl’s room, Knapp draped a West Elm bed in fabric from Gray Line Linen, painted the trim a fun and bold turquoise, and papered one wall with Brunschwig & Fils’ Les Touches in aqua. Knapp also added a valance in Osborne & Little’s Perroquet by Nina Campbell. The petal-colored bedskirt is from Duralee’s Berkeley Print Collection, and the fabric on the antique chaise is Happy Plaid by Lilly Pulitzer for Kravet.
Knapp stocked the guest room with creature comforts that she herself would enjoy such as a new Stanton shag rug and a light linen duvet in Romo’s Tilia Freesia. The swivel chairs were repurposed from the office.
Knapp installed Stikwood on the walls in a busy downstairs bathroom. Her painter transformed the mirror to match.
