The view from the dining room looks back onto the guesthouse, which has bedrooms on either side of the breezeway. Large Estate zinc planters are from RH.
Rather than fragment the space, several intimate moments contribute to the courtyard’s cohesiveness. Grouping is furnished with RH’s Marbella outdoor furniture and CB2 coffee and side tables.
On the second floor of the house, a screen made from Western Red Cedar substitutes as a handrail.
Ikea Vilmar chairs surround an RH trestle table in the dining area. A visually weightless FontanaArte Amax pendant chandelier helps to preserve the spare beauty of the space.
The kitchen sits between a library and a sitting room, each of which has an entire wall of cubby hole storage. “It was a nice way to bookend the kitchen,” says Zak.
The artwork above the fireplace is Tilo Kaiser’s When Mum Was Away On Business.
A Chuck Close self-portrait gazes out from the central stairway. Floors throughout are wide-plank oak.
