The 2014 Hampton Classic Horse Show

Horses and riders in the ring aren’t the only competitors on closing day of the Hampton Classic. Every year, innovative decorators play off equestrian themes, beach topics, end-of-summer flowers, business logos, bright bursts of color, to create table settings for their guests in the ringside VIP tent. The Editor in Chief of HC&G (Hamptons Cottages & Gardens), Kendell Cronstrom, selects the winning tables each year. Choosing among the myriad creations isn’t easy but here is the outcome this year.

The Crown Family chose monochrome orange for a stand-out setting that won them Third Place.

Second Prize — red ribbon — went to the delightful  blue hydrangeas and blue ribbons of English Country Antiques.

This year’s favorite, fully embracing the equestrian theme, from riding crop centerpieces to pony plates, was the setting of Benhamo/Thomas.

Our own HC&G table, devised by Victoria Amory, featured Delft-style plates on a striped cloth, with goody bags including jars of Amory’s new Fine Herbes Mayonnaise and Champagne Catsup, a red-white-and blue salute to the end of summer.
