Willard Scott, longtime weatherman at The Today Show, called his one-bedroom, one-bathroom waterfront cottage “the Hut.” He fell in love with it on first sight, pledging to buy it without first stepping inside. “I saw this place and I said, ‘That’s the house I’ve been looking for all my life,’” Scott said, according to a Wall Street Journal report. He also admitted to paying far too much for it—$1.2 million about 10 years ago—and is now looking to unload it, reportedly to move in with a girlfriend elsewhere in Connecticut. The circa-1795 hut has a bit of a fishy past, in that it was once used as the office for a fish-oil company. But its virtues outweigh that and its tiny size, just 1,000 square feet: It has breathtaking views over Guilford’s coastline and a separate cottage with another bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Ann Harrison of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing. 203-515-8470.
