Set Sail
The first of two Orient Express sailing yachts, the Corinthian, was launched in 2026 and outfitted with furnishings from luxury Italian leader B&B Italia. Leveraging the creative and productive energies of the two brands, B&B Italia Group was able to design and produce 52 custom-made products in just ten months for the yacht. More than 500 pieces were pulled from the B&B Italia and Maxalto catalogs. Maxime D’Angeac, architect and artistic director of Orient Express, specified notables like the Caratos chair, the Lilium sofa, Febo seating and the Pathos console table.
Mom Knows Best
Stateside is a collection of 18 hide rugs from Kyle Bunting developed with his mother, Peggy Bunting. Honoring traditional American quilts, the rugs offer a new art form, both functional and decorative. Peggy’s love of quilting was the inspiration and together the mother/son team brought her vision to reality. “Quilting is an old craft—this collection adds to that history,” says Peggy. “With a mix of traditional and contemporary designs, I hope Stateside will leave people cherishing the importance of quilting and how this work tells a story of our history and my own.” The rugs can be customized in color, shape or size. “Working on this collection with my mother has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” says Kyle. “Together we designed dozens of colorways over the span of a year.” Not unlike quilts, these rugs are destined to become heirlooms passed down from one generation to the next.
Happy Anniversary
Charlotte-based designer Barrie Benson has built a reputation for blending modern and traditional elements into spaces that feel distinctive and welcoming. She brings that same aesthetic to her latest collaboration with Highland House, offering new case goods and upholstery pieces. It’s been a decade since her initial collaboration, and she notes, “In celebration of our ten-year anniversary, this collection reflects the design language we have refined over the past decade, balancing American and European mid-century forms, Scandinavian simplicity and enduring traditional silhouettes with ease. Each piece is designed with versatility in mind, working beautifully across different rooms and homes, and are forms we have returned to time and time again, trusted by our clients across countless projects.“
Set in Stone
Shaped by mass, curve and material continuity, the Voussoir collection from Kallista elevates the sink to an architectural statement. Conceived by interior and product designer Richard T. Anuszkiewicz, each sink is made from a single block of stone with front-face carved detail. “For me, Voussoir is about creating something timeless juxtaposed in relevancy, an object that feels carved from history but is designed for today,” says Anuszkiewicz. “This sink is an exploration of balance between architecture and art, warmth and strength, heritage and innovation.” Alexander Dornbracht, Vice President and General Manager of Kallista, adds, “The design reflects Kallista’s vision of uncompromising craftsmanship, thoughtful innovation, and enduring beauty.”
