In the 1990s, Life magazine featured an annual “dream house” for which the editors commissioned one architect per year to draw up plans for a model home, representing the newest ideas for modern living. Readers were able to buy those plans for $600 or less. Robert A.M. Stern, our 2016 CTC&G IDA Innovator Award recipient, was the first architect involved, and the plans he published came to life in a house built on a pretty, waterfront lot in Old Lyme. The residence recently hit the market for $1,195,000, but has already come down a smidgen and now asks $1,050,000.
The shingle-style home offers a lovely great room with a fireplace, along with four bedrooms and bathrooms, including a master suite with a private deck overlooking the river and marshland. Picturesque and spacious, the charming abode is an absolute treasure. Jennifer and Jane Associates of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing.
