A-list actors Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy, who first met while playing love interests on the set of Evening, have officially parted with their West Village townhouse. The couple originally listed their stunning NYC home last August for $9.75 million, and found a buyer within two months. Now, the deal has finally closed and we can see that it has sold for above asking: $9.9 million.
The sale was clearly a triumph for the famous sellers, but the mystery buyer also has a lot to be excited about. Behind the red-brick Greek Revival facade of the circa-1880s home are thoughtful spaces revamped at the hands of BKSK Architects. In the listing photos, you can see before-and-after photos and how dramatically it was transformed with a mix of historic charm and modern minimalism.
The 3,890-square-foot residence spans five levels, four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and three outdoor spaces. The ground level includes the living room, dining room, and a Miele kitchen, which was moved to the back of the house to create a seamless flow to the terrace. Light-colored walls and skylights keep the home bright, while the dark wood and metal staircase bring warmth back in. Other features include a sunlit parlor, custom millwork, and a garden with sweeping neighborhood views.
Danes and Dancy bought the townhouse in 2012 for $6.87 million, according to People. Over the years, their family grew to include three children, prompting them to search for a larger home to better suit their needs. Per the NY Times, they plan to stay in New York City.
Tamer Howard of Corcoran held the listing while Marie-Claire Gladstone of Corcoran represented the buyer.
