Actress Sienna Miller Lists Her Stylish Thatched Cottage in the English Countryside

British actress Sienna Miller is selling her long-held home in the English countryside, much to the luck of buyers looking for something antique, unique, and rural yet still within easy distance of London. The cozy Thatch cottage, which dates back to the 1500s and has been a beloved refuge for Miller, is listed for £1,950,000 GBP—or about $2.6 million USD.

In 2022, the actress shared a glimpse into her special dwelling in an Architectural Digest video tour and the home also graced the magazine’s cover. “It’s really my sanctuary,” Miller told the publication. “It’s where I come to do nothing.” The property sits near the village of West Wycombe and the natural beauty of Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, just 35 miles from Central London, The now-43-year-old bought the house when she was 25 and “was dreaming about having a place to get away to.”

During the pandemic, Miller redecorated the interiors with her dear friend, Gaby Dellal, telling AD that although she’s a film director, Dellal “has the best taste of anyone I’ve ever met.” They didn’t make any architectural changes to the protected, 16th-century section of the house. The duo fully embraced the historic details, including the thatched roof, wood beams, and the original staircase, but sought to amplify its character with warmth, color, and quirkiness.

Splendid new touches include a Lacanche range and herringbone blue tile floors in the kitchen, as well as new paint hues and wallpapers, contemporary light fixtures, and tactful placement of mirrors to enhance natural light. Structurally, they were able to raise the ceilings in primary bedroom as it sits in the 1970s part of the house. “It was lovely, it was very traditional ‘English cottage,'” Miller recalled to AD. “It’s now much more sophisticated and evolved, and I think much more how my taste actually is.”

The 1,922-square-foot home sits on just over half an acre. A converted garage, now affectionately called “The Outhouse” holds an additional bedroom with a wood-burning stove and a bathroom. The property totals five bedrooms and four baths.

For those looking for a slice of countryside living, Hugh Maconochie and Eddie Hamilton of Savills hold the listing. “If you close your eyes and imagine a quintessential thatch cottage, this is surely it,” Maconochie says.
