Actress Suzanne Somers’s Former 28-Acre Palm Springs Compound Seeks $12.9M

Actress and businesswoman Suzanne Somers’s former Palm Springs compound is on the market for $12.9 million. Spanning 28 acres, the five-structure estate is perched above one of the city’s most secluded neighborhood, The Mesa.

The Three’s Company and Step by Step star and her husband, entertainer Alan Hamel, reportedly asked $35 million for the spread in 2008, then listed it for $14.5 million in 2017, and put it up for auction in 2018. The latest owner is now looking to hand off the almost-100-year-old oasis with tons of design delights and dreamy amenities.

The main residence, accessible via an open-air funicular, covers 7,280 square feet with seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The home’s highlights include a luxurious primary suite and a large two-room chef’s kitchen and a 5,000-bottle wine cellar.

The property’s outdoor living areas take advantage of the private hillside location. Large terraces and secret patios connect the various buildings. The lagoon-like pool, amphitheater, hiking trails, and waterfalls make you feel like you’re faraway in your own world. And, really, you are. Everything one could want or need is on-property, butt there’s room to build another structure on the land for a buyer who feels something is missing.

With enough space for up to 20 cars, a guest house designed by Swiss architect Albert Frey, and enchanting outdoor living spaces, it is certainly an entertainment destination—but equally as perfect for an off-the-grid getaway. Perhaps a celebrity with an eye on Palm Springs will see all this potenital and swoop right in.
