Acclaimed pop artist and illustrator Donald Robertson, who is also the SVP creative director for Estée Lauder, is selling this Montecito home for $8,995,000. So, it comes as no great shock that it is artfully designed. After all, Robertson has an artistic eye plus the late interior designer Paul Fortune—known for designing homes for Marc Jacobs and Sofia Coppola—reimagined the circa-1920s Spanish-style abode.
Landscape designer Elizabeth Low enhanced the 1.3-acre grounds, which includes a swimming pool and outdoor dining area—fully equipped for Southern California’s indoor/outdoor lifestyle. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence is essentially flawless both inside and out—thanks to Fortune, who The New York Times remembers as a “Designer to the Stars” and credits him as “style guru, epitome of taste, acme of chic, arbiter elegantiarum” in his 2020 obituary.
While the interiors are not as loud as you might expect from Robertson, whose artwork tends to be bright and playful, the kitchen floor tiling brings a pop of color, as does a blue bathroom. There is, of course, a separate studio space on the property ideal to use as a creative sanctuary.
Robertson and his family now reside in Dallas, according to his @drawbertson Instagram page. For those interested in this ivy-covered haven, Eric Haskell, Amanda Lee, and Blake Varga of The Agency hold the listing.
