Billionaire Rupert Murdoch Parts with His Striking Triplex Penthouse in One Madison

In 2022, media tycoon Rupert Murdoch listed not one, but two sky-high residences in a luxurious Manhattan tower for a total of $78 million. While this cost might seem incredible to most, it’s barely a drop in the bucket for the seller whose net worth is upward of $20 billion.

The first unit, a condo originally listed at $16 million, sold in October 2022 for $12.5 million. The second unit, a triplex penthouse originally seeking $62 million, has taken longer to change hands.

Murdoch just sold this second penthouse for $23.8 million, according to The Robb Report, with its last asking price sitting at $28.5 million. However, he reportedly bought the residence for $43 million in 2014, meaning the 93-year-old is out $20 million bucks.

The mystery buyer moving into the 58th, 59th, and 60th floors of One Madison will get to bask in 7,143 square feet of pure luxury. The home’s highlights include a double-height living room, a statement-making curved staircase, and floor-to-ceiling expanses of glass overlooking the Flatiron District and beyond. Imagine waking up and look out to the Empire State Building right at eye level—a “pinch-me” NYC moment to be sure.
