Bing Crosby’s Fabulous Former Palm Desert Estate with Hollywood Lore Hits the Market

Besides Los Angeles, few places are as rich in Hollywood history as the Palm Springs area. Located about two hours from the entertainment hub and majorly developed in the mid 20th-century, it’s no wonder all of the most iconic Old Hollywood stars flocked there for relaxation and rousing parties. Bing Crosby was a longtime resident of the area, owning multiple homes in the vicinity during his lifetime. As well as holding a Rancho Mirage ranch, the triple-threat singer/actor/dancer built this glamorous, gated compound now on the market asking $13.5 million.

Crosby constructed the Palm Desert retreat in 1955 and put in everything he needed to enjoy a life of leisure. The Crosby Estate spans 2.35 acres, including a tennis court and large pool and spa. When it comes to the 6,100 square feet of living space, there is a five-bedroom, Mediterranean-style main home and three casitas. These casitas are optimal destinations for guests who want to visit yet maintain their privacy. It is widely rumored that some of Crosby’s visitors were quite famous indeed. This estate is said to be one of the places JFK and Marilyn Monroe met up during their alleged affair.

While the listing stands out for its Hollywood mystique and nostalgia for Crosby’s crooning, it is just as enticing for modern times. The current owners purchased The Crosby Estate for roughly $3 million in 2012, according to the Wall Street Journal, and took the home down to the studs to give it a 21st-century update while still respecting its heritage. Outfitting it with fashionable finishes and chic decor, the sellers are now offering the property fully furnished.
