Business Journalist Suzy Welch Seeks $26M for Polished Upper East Side Townhouse

Business journalist and commentator Suzy Welch, who is also the widow of late General Electric CEO Jack Welch, is selling her pristine Upper East Side townhouse four years after moving in. The savvy seller, who has penned numerous personal development books on business and career topics, wants $26 million for this tailored, East 81st Street manor.

Serving up dreamy curb appeal, the 40-foot-wide limestone facade boasts elegant flower boxes, a pine-green front door, iron fencing, and a rare one-car front garage. It’s refined UES look may tempt the occasional influencer or tourist walking by to stop and take a few pictures. In the rear, which is far more private, a large garden and patio delivers additional exterior charm.

Inside, the townhouse spans 7,675 square feet across five total floors. Welch tapped Williams Lawrence to redesign the interiors. “I wanted the house to feel livable, fun, and delightful,” Welch told the Robb Report. “A place where family, friends, and dogs could make themselves at home.”

The green kitchen situated near the double-height dining room and art-filled family room is a perfect example of the freshness she infused. For accomodations, there are a total of seven bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms. The primary suite spans the entire width of the third floor, with a floral wallpapered ensuite bath—plus, plenty of closet space. The residence’s top floor may act as its own apartment with three bedrooms, a living room, and full kitchen.

While Welch will remain on the Upper East Side, she says she is selling to downsize. “All my kids are grown and out of the house on their own now,” she told the Robb Report. “I will never leave this wonderful neighborhood, but it feels like the right time to find a home a little more my size!”

Deborah Grubman, David M. Adler, and Paul Albano of Corcoran share the listing.
