We hear it all the time from designers: They want their pieces to be both functional and beautiful. And where do you need both of these more than in a coat rack? It’s going to be one of the first things people see when they enter your home, so it’s got to look good, but what good is a pretty coat rack if it can’t hold lots of jackets, scarves, hats and maybe a bag or two? For excellence in both form and function (and color), I give you the Blu Dot Splash and Fritz Hansen’s Coat Tree.
Both of these options come in neutral colors as well, but I prefer them in color—bright blue from Blu Dot, and Multi from Hansen. The looks are different—Hansen’s features gracefully curved arms while the Splash is more modern and angular—but I’m a fan of both.
