It wasn’t that long ago that baseball star Derek Jeter was a major league bachelor living it up in New York City. He spent his entire 20-year MLB career on the Yankees and seemed like the king of the Big Apple back then.
The famous shortstop appropriately called a spectacular Manhattan penthouse home for part of this era. Perched 88 floors high at 845 UN Plaza, the 5,380-square-foot pad let him look over his whole dominion with ease. Parting ways with it to downsize, according to what a listing agent told the NY Post in 2012, Jeter said goodbye to the penthouse over a decade ago. But, it’s still as swanky as ever and just listed for $16.5 million.
Jeter purchased the unit in Midtown East’s Trump World Tower for $12.72 million directly from Donald Trump. That was back in 2001, long before Trump entered the political realm. The Yankees favorite sold the condo in 2012 to the current sellers, who further enhanced the home’s glassy splendor with a thoughtful renovation.
Entering the penthouse, you’re thrown right into the heart of the home and the center of the unit’s glamour. Open spaces offer an immediate 79 feet of window frontage, 16-foot ceilings, a grand contemporary fireplace, and a myriad of spots for relaxing or hosting. The views are astounding with landmarks like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building appearing like friendly neighbors.
All in all, the NYC home boasts highlights like four bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen, a spa-like primary bathroom, and a custom-paneled home office. The building offers white-glove service from staff such as doormen and concierges, and amenity spaces like a health club, spa, pool, dog park, and more.
Gisela Vergara and Shawn Felker of Corcoran share the listing.
