Discover the Highest Upper West Side Home Sale of 2024 So Far

New York City is known for its high real estate prices, and a recent sale is setting a swanky tone for 2024. While it’s too early in the year to say for sure, the sale of Unit #43A at 200 Amsterdam is setting the bar high with the highest Upper West Side real estate deal so far in 2024. Only time will tell if another listing will take the cake, but for now, this unit recently put into contract by SERHANT. for $20 million reigns.

Originally represented by Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing, the building’s sales switched hands to Ryan Serhant’s eponymous firm earlier this year. While this is not the most expensive sale in the building, like the $21 million all-cash deal last year, it is certainly a high-profile deal to inspire the area’s brokers to beat it.

Occupying the entirety of the 43rd floor, the modern condo feels like it’s up in the clouds. Sleek finishes abound throughout the penthouse unit, which spans over 4,000 square feet. Drenched in light from windows all around, tranquility permeates the spaces and is enhanced with materials like light wood floors and touches of marble. Perhaps the star of the apartment is the custom-built kitchen, complete with a waterfall countertop on the center island and top-of-the-line Miele and Wolf appliances.

At its $20 million contract price, you can bet the accommodations aren’t cramped. There are four bedrooms and four full bathrooms, including the dreamy primary suite with its own terrace. Capturing panoramic city views, it’s easy to relax looking out at the Hudson River from the bathroom’s soaker tub or watching the sun set over Central Park from bed.

The Real Deal reported in January that roughly 83% of the building’s units have been sold. If SERHANT. keeps this up, perhaps they’ll beat their own UWS record soon with another 200 Amsterdam sale. For this major deal, Peter Zaitzeff, Ariel Sassoon and Jamie Hannon of SERHANT. led the sales team while Amanda Brainerd of Brown Harris Stevens repped the buyer.
