EGOT Winning Producer Scott Rudin Lands a Buyer for His Polished West Village Townhouse

There are only 21 people in history who have competitively, not with special honoree awards, that is, achieved EGOT status. That means they have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony—forever cementing their impact in entertainment and performance arts. Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, John Legend, and Violas Davis are among this elite group, as is theater producer Scott Rudin.

With many broadway shows under his belt—including The Book of Mormon and the recent Hello, Dolly! revival—Rudin has been working in New York City for decades. Of course, that means he has also held some stellar homes there. According to Mansion Global, he owned a condo in the prestigious San Remo for over 20 years, but sold that shortly after purchasing this elegant West Village townhouse from former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter in 2019. Rudin and his husband, John Barlow, didn’t plant firm roots there, however. They listed the 4,000-square-foot home in 2023 for $26 million, and it has finally found a buyer.

Currently in contract, 22 Bank Street was last priced at $19.75 million though the ultimate sale price is still unknown. Listing agent Deborah Grubman of The Corcoran Group has declined comment. But, the listing page still provides plenty of details.

The lucky buyer will come home to a classic, 19-foot brick facade. And, although it was built between 1844 and 1845, the antique townhouse is contemporary and up-to-date. Architect G.P. Schafer executed the property’s most recent renovation, which has left it with a myriad of crisp, neutral spaces sure to inspire tranquility. Other highlights the new owner may be looking forward to include the south-facing garden, luxurious primary suite spanning the entire top level, and elevator servicing all five floors.

Headline-making deals are nothing new for the West Village, where many celebs find solace.
