We may be inching toward the end of the season, but outdoor living never gets old. Get inspired for next summer or simply scroll through these stunning summer scenes as the leaves start to fall off the trees.
French Countryside in The Hamptons
At the 2022 Hampton Designer Showhouse, Lori Miller of LGC Interior Design designed a welcoming brick terrace with furnishings from Ligne Roset and lighting by Bevolo Gas & Electric Lights.
On the brick terrace by Lori Miller, Ligne Roset chairs offer a plump place to enjoy the afternoon sun.
Cool Off Here
At the 2022 Hampton Designer Showhouse, Marcelo Fernandez for Design Within Reach created this space on the covered terrace. The space is comprised of an Eos sofa, Hay lamps, a Design Within Reach rug, and various pieces from Richard Schultz’s iconic 1966 Collection for Knoll.
Rounding out the scheme are a pair of Carl Hansen & Søn Cuba chairs (which are foldable), a blue Magis chair by Thomas Heatherwick, and pillows from Maharam.
Island Inspiration
On Nantucket, this outdoor setup has it all. Tuuci umbrellas from Arrowhead provide poolside sun cover. The teak furnishings are from RH.
All the main house living areas open to the water, where sand and surf are just steps away. Chaises on the primary bedroom’s terrace are from Janus et Cie. See the rest of the home here.
Pool Party Prep
Get inspiration from tabletop accessories designer Kim Seybert. This tablescape features Ginori Oriente luncheon plates and a hand-dyed linen napkin of her own design, plus a shimmery napkin ring and placemat from her brand-new collaboration with Baccarat. The table also features flower arrangements from Sag Harbor Florist.
Backyard Living
On this East Hampton property, indoor/outdoor decking overlooks the pool. A custom mirror from Jesse Shapiro & James Glass Corporation reflects light on the deck, which is furnished with an RH sofa and a CB2 coffee table. The planters are from Rejuvenation.
At the same East Hampton home, sliding barn doors open to reveal a swimming pool beyond. See the rest of the home here.
The Perfect Pergola
Extending off this Montauk house, a pergola frames an outdoor dining area and fireplace. Architect Nick Martin devised an outdoor sitting area beneath a pergola that “offers a connection to the house.” Accessed via the main living area, it beckons with a dining table, ample sofas, and an outdoor fireplace.
Garden Goals
The homeowners of this Southampton property reimagined the grounds, adding a rose garden, five different water features that cancel out noise from a nearby road, a bluestone patio, a new lawn, and a fire pit. “Years ago, I read a gardening book that described a garden as a home without a roof, with the plants serving as the walls, and I like the idea of creating a sense of mystery and discovery,” Alejandra Rossetti says. In this photo, a freestanding pavilion anchored by four carved statues came with the property that the homeowners bought several years ago.
A Grand Entrance
Outside of the Hartford Designer Showhouse, a table and chairs that match the front door offer a unique spot for a game of chess or just to bask in the lush surroundings. Fiona Leonard Interiors designed the whimsical entry.
Swing It!
In the Hartford Designer Showhouse, Moreau Designs created a cool nature-inspired back porch. The porch bed from the Porch Swing Company is topped with pillows in Clarke & Clarke’s Marissa in teal/spice.
To complement the back porch, biophilic design blurs the lines between outdoor and indoor living. Jennifer Moreau of Moreau Designs created these nature-inspired spaces.
