‘Euphoria’ Star Colman Domingo Seeks $2M for Circa-1964 ‘Hofkin Residence’ on the Outskirts of L.A.

Academy Award-nominated, Tony-nominated, and Emmy-winning actor Colman Domingo has generated major buzz in the last few years. From starring in the HBO hit series ‘Euphoria’ to the critically-acclaimed film ‘Sing Sing,’ he has shown a wide range and keeps captivating audiences on screen. Now, you can get a peek at his style when he’s not in front of the camera or on red carpets. Colman Domingo just listed his midcentury home, dubbed the Hofkin Residence, in Downey, CA for $2.049 million.

The actor and his husband picked up this circa-1964 ranch, designed by Jules Salkin, in 2018 from its only previous owner. Retaining most of its original design features, the 3,450-square-foot home spoke to them with its retro feel. And, they were devoted to embracing its midcentury aesthetic with the decor. “We wanted everything to be vintage or a replica,” the actor told AD during a 2021 home tour.

When you walk through the living spaces, angular ceilings and smooth wood set an organic and livable yet striking tone. While some new owners may want to remodel the original kitchen, its 1960s flair exudes true bygone charm and authenticity rarely seen, even in other L.A.-area midcentury gems. Another eye-catching original detail Domingo loved is the colorfully-striped tile mosaic over the primary suite’s bathtub, uniquely made of tiles from Charles Kratka’s iconic mosaic tunnels at LAX. According to AD, the seller even bought a vintage Dior robe to match. If that’s not commitment to a home’s origins, what is?

Four bedrooms, a backyard oasis with large pool, and a sauna also await, all tucked privately behind the property gates. If you want to move into this historic California home, which has hardly changed hands since it was built, Jacqueline Tager of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.
