2024 Innovation in Design Awards (IDAs) by HC&G

The Glass House, created between 1949 and 1995 by architect Philip Johnson and curator David Whitney, is a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, located in New Canaan, CT. This pastoral 49-acre landscape comprises fourteen structures, including the Glass House (1949), and features a permanent collection of 20th-century paintings and sculptures, along with annual contemporary exhibitions. The campus serves as a catalyst for the preservation and interpretation of modern architecture, landscape, and art, and as a canvas for inspiration and experimentation. The tour season runs from mid-April through mid-December, and advanced reservations are required. Members receive 10% off tour tickets.

An Evening Celebrating Art, Floral Design, and Community Creativity

Experience an evening like no other in one of NYC’s most beautiful gardens.

As part of the national commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, The Glass House will, for the first time, open the 1783 Grainger House and its celebrated peony and iris garden for public tours. The house sits on one of New Canaan’s earliest registered land parcels and was originally known as the Finch House, named for the early New Canaan family who farmed the land.

Inspired by Philip Johnson’s legendary 1967 Country Happening, The Glass House Summer Party is a chic Saturday afternoon gathering for individuals across art, architecture, design, fashion, philanthropy, and more! Guests explore the iconic grounds while enjoying curated food and drink, live performance, and a silent auction of contemporary art and distinctive experiences. Proceeds support the preservation and programming of this Modernist landmark.
