A Gorgeous, Rustic California Retreat with Strong Celebrity Ties Seeks $4.2M

Where do the rich and famous go when they want to get away from it all? Perhaps the nature-surrounded community of Topanga. After all, there are architecturally dramatic residences set among canyons, woodlands, and gorgeous vistas to attract red carpet regulars (including OneRepublic’s drummer). This rustic retreat, which has had a string of celebrity owners, is on the market for $4,195,000.

Hollywood power couple Julianne Nicholson and Jonathan Cake, fashion designer turned astrologer Lily Ashwell, and actress Thandiwe Newton have all owned this residence at one point or another, according to the Robb Report. However, its higher price tag reflects the extensive work that the current owners have done to update the circa-1970s abode. Two years ago, Newton sold the home for $2.75 million just four months after paying $2.6 million for it, per Robb Report.

The 3,033 square-foot home totals four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths. If the rustic, storybook interiors look like they should be the backdrop of a movie, perhaps it is because a former set designer reimagined the design. However, the home’s tranquil position and landscaping make it even more dreamy. A guest house, natural plunge pool, outdoor shower, and Finnish sauna round out the property.
