Handbag Designer Tyler Ellis’s Exuberant & Tailored Brentwood Residence Seeks $32.4M

Those with an artful eye almost always have artful homes. This is something proven time and time again when famous creatives look to sell their properties. Homes listed by Annie Leibovitz, Douglas Friedman, Reed and Delphine Krakoff, and Emmy-winning Michael Wilkinson are just a few treats we’ve seen lately. Now, you can check out another masterful residence owned by handbag designer Tyler Ellis (daughter of Perry Ellis) that’s newly asking a precise $32,388,888.

When Ellis and her husband, investor Benjamin Shriner, purchased this L.A. property in the celeb-favorite Brentwood neighborhood, it had a nice, three-bedroom standalone home. However, she had a vision and transformed it into something far more luxe and bold.

Working with the home’s original architect, Studio William Hefner, the sellers added a bedroom and expanded the primary suite while also building an entertainer’s dream guest house that matches the main house’s romantic, Belle Epoque-meets-Art Deco exterior. This new structure blends as if it’s always been there and holds a kitchen, living area, and two bedrooms, plus a swanky lower level with a speakeasy, movie theater, and wine cellar.

With these additions, the estate now provides 11,800 square feet of living space filled with fresh, exuberant style à la Ellis and her team. According to Architectural Digest, the designer tapped her go-to interior design firm, The Archers, to dress it sumptuously. They outfitted the home with delights like hand-selected marble, sculptural light fixtures, rich lacquered paint, and a dramatic La Cornue kitchen.

The sellers also upgraded the grounds with Italian cypresses, a limestone fountain, a bocce ball court, and a 75-foot lap pool. Of course, part of the hefty price tag is the location and the beach isn’t too far either. Peter Mac and Mauricio Umansky of The Agency share the listing.
