The 16th Junior League of Hartford Designer Show House presented by CTC&G (Connecticut Cottages & Gardens) is the signature event-based fundraiser for the Junior League of Hartford, and has raised nearly $2 million for its charitable projects and programs. This highly-anticipated Show House is hosted every three years, and is the only event of its kind in Central Connecticut. The Designer Show House kicks off with an Opening Night Gala on Friday, May 2nd and will remain open for public tours through Friday, May 23rd.
This year’s host property is a stunning example of classic Hartford architecture. Located at 820 Prospect Avenue, this distinguished residence is a notable example of early 20th-century Tudor Revival architecture, and is listed on the national registry of historic homes. Constructed between 1901 and 1902, the home was designed by the prominent Hartford architect Edward T. Hapgood, renowned for his contributions to the city’s architectural heritage, including the Connecticut State Library.
The residence is situated on a half-acre lot, offering proximity to the historic Elizabeth Park, known for its gardens and green spaces. The home’s interior spans approximately over 7,000 square feet, comprising seven bedrooms and multiple bathrooms, reflecting the grandeur typical of homes from this era.
More than 20 designers will participate in transforming the home, featuring sprawling entertaining spaces on the first floor, home gym, and multiple outdoor spaces. The Design Chair for the show house is renowned interior designer Matthew Patrick Smyth.
