Iconic actress Helen Mirren and director Taylor Hackford have just put their longtime Los Angeles home back on the market. The duo, who wed in 1987, purchased the 6.5-acre Hollywood Hills estate in the 1980s and have diligently maintained it. They first first attempted to sell the beautiful (and historic) spread for $18.5 million in 2021, chopping the price several times over the next few years. This time, they’ve priced it at $12.995 million, exactly what it was seen listed for last year.
So, what do buyers have to look forward to besides following in the footsteps of two accomplished Oscar winners? To start with, privacy. The residence sits on a hillside behind two sets of gates, promising a sense of peace as you take in the extraordinary city views or lounge by the dazzling pool. Its legacy also goes deeper than its current, world-famous sellers.
The main house, a 6,700-square-foot abode with four bedrooms, was originally built in 1911 for silent film actor Dustin Farnum and the estate has only has a few owners over the past century. The property boasts 10,200 square feet of living space in total with a 3,700-square-foot, two-bedroom guest house and a one-bedroom apartment above the garage offering ample space for staff or visitors.
Stepping inside the main structure, its traditional Hollywood allure is palpable with stately woodwork, amenities like a hidden bar, and French doors leading out to romantic terraces and balconies at every possible point. Recently, the property also underwent a series of impactful updates. Following larger changes, including revitalizing the landscaping, Vesta Home designed and staged the interiors to give it a fresh feel on the market.
Brett Baer, co-Founder of Vesta Home, shares, “Every house tells you what it wants to be, and this one didn’t need a lot of noise. We wanted people to walk in and feel like it had always looked this way. Nothing feels forced, and every antique, old Hollywood reference, and furnishing was chosen to support the home instead of competing with it.”
Jonas Heller and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency represent the high-profile listing.
