“To sharpen the living room in the main house,” says Zervudachi, “the walls were plastered in bright yellow stucco,” the better to show off the client’s collection of works by such emerging artists as Dirk Skreber and Moshekwa Langa. “The collection as a whole forced me to keep an open mind.”
Zervudachi, inspired by an Ugo Rondinone painting in the client’s collection, designed the custom rug in the new addition’s living room. Works by Christopher Wool flank the window; the sculptural piece is by Sterling Ruby.
The painting above the Zervudachi-designed sofa is by Cosima von Bonin, and the rectangular bronze cocktail tables are by Philippe Anthonioz.
All the custom carpets in the house were made by Galerie Diurne in Paris. The cast-plaster ceiling decoration is by Virgil Martí.
Zervudachi designed the rug in the main dining room, which also features yellow stucco walls, in the manner of a Brice Marden painting
In the new addition’s kitchen, Zervudachi played up the prevailing theme of black and white by painting the cabinets and kitchen island and even intermixing black and white slats on the window blinds.
An installation by Jorge Pardo sits at the landing of the main house’s entry hall. The work on the far wall is by Ugo Rondinone.
A hallway linking the new addition to the main house features a checkerboard carpet by Stark and a suite of paintings by Philippe Decrauzat.
Zervudachi’s whimsical side really comes through in the poolhouse.
He commissioned New York graffiti artist Marco to create the cartoon-like interior of the poolhouse.
