Interior Designer Charlotte Moss Asks $14.5M for Her Exquisite, Traditional Upper East Side Townhouse

Interior designer Charlotte Moss—oft featured in Cottages & Gardens—is selling her Manhattan townhouse for $14.5 million. The designer, who has written more than 10 books on style, flowers, and entertaining at home, brought her signature Southern flair to the Upper East Side residence, which was designed by architect F.T. Camp and built in 1884.

Moss has resided at this 71st Street address for 23 years, but it’s time to turn the page. “We are selling the house as we have purchased another house in Virginia where we are spending some time and want to simplify our life in New York. I am looking forward to one-floor living and a doorman,” the designer shares.

The tasteful home spans six floors, with a grand staircase wraps around from floor to floor and an elevator taking you from place to place. The residence’s traditional allure begins street side with a manicured front garden, while inside a marble foyer beckons into the dining room and red brick patio beyond. The second floor features refined parlors with wood-burning fireplaces, a wet bar, and Juliet balconies overlooking the private gardens. Offering dreamy privacy, the primary suite with dual bathrooms then occupies the entire third floor. Continuing up, the additional four guest bedrooms span the fourth and fifth floors, while a sunroom and rooftop terrace sit on the sixth floor providing a sunny perch for enjoying the city.

Moss’s townhouse is a certified historic structure recognized by the National Park Service. The talented designer has met the stately architectural details (bespoke millwork, six wood-burning fireplaces, tall ceilings with plenty of light flooding in) with collected antiques, luxe fabrics, and patterned wallpapers. Best of all, some furnishings are available for purchase.

Nikki Field and Dana Kirshenbaum of Sotheby’s International Realty represent the interior designer’s listing.
