The allure of James Bond goes beyond his stealth operations and action stunts, it’s also about his panache. And, the intrigue of 007 has long extended to those who have played him as well. Legendary late James Bond star Sir Roger Moore, who acted as the iconic character in seven films between 1973 and 1985, rented this English countryside retreat in the 1960s. The celeb-approved Cotswolds home is now on the market for £2.1 million GBP, or approximately $2,666,838 USD.
The 4,875-square-foot haven called “Appleton House” is well-equipped for entertaining. The layout includes a drawing room, sitting room, dining room, and an orangery. Plus, a spacious six bedrooms and six bathrooms for overnight visitors. Although it dates back to 1935, the Arts & Crafts-style residence was recently refurbished, allowing modern living to meet storied countryside enchantment.
Moore starred in “The Saint,” a British thriller television series throughout the majority of the ’60s prior to taking on his most notable role. It’s easy to assume the actor appreciated the Cotswolds manor’s quiet setting on just under three acres, overlooking the first fairway of Stinchcombe Hill’s golf course.
“It’s an interesting part of the property’s history and says something about the house that someone like Sir Roger Moore chose to live there,” listing agent Alasdhair Lochrane of Knight Frank shared with Mansion Global.
