To own a home with interiors by Kelly Wearstler signals you have fashion-forward taste, a fearless attitude, and, quite likely, large means. Wearstler’s glamorous maximalism and bold way of approaching design has become world-famous, and you can see it on full display at this show-stopping mansion set along L.A.’s Bel Air golf course and priced at a staggering $37.5 million.
Over 10 years ago, Wearstler worked with M. Brian Tichenor of Tichenor & Thorp Architects in a gut-renovation of the circa-1939, three-story Georgian Revival, according to AD. By the time they were finished, she had added 3,000 square feet of living space to the original footprint and truly blurred the lines between home and art with details like pyramid-paneled walls in the family room, an edgy stainless steel island in the chef’s kitchen, and a circular entry with flooring that interweaves marbles of different tones. You can also feast your eyes on black-and-white striped walls, spikey and geometric light fixtures, and one-of-a-kind furnishings by Wearstler throughout the spaces.
After working her magic on the property, the talented designer left behind an over-the-top, 14,287-square-foot masterpiece with seven bedrooms, a media room, and an art studio. The primary suite is its crown jewel with dual dressing rooms, one decadently adorned with gold-leafed wood paneling and antique mirrors that envelop you in shimmery warmth.
In comparison, the grounds are more traditional in style but still definitively grand. Across the 1.24-acre property, there’s a pool and pavilion for lounging as well as gardens and fountains. Wearstler collaborated with Art Luna Garden to bring these outdoor areas to life.
