Take your idea of a lake house, blow it up to 17,559 square feet, and add a tennis court and you’re getting close to the Lake Washington home that was built for renowned saxophonist Kenny G. All that and more awaits at his former lake retreat, which just hit the market asking a whopping $70 million.
Looking at the grand, European-style sandstone main house, it’s not a difficult guess who was at the helm of its design. Kenny G tapped none other than architect-to-the-stars Richard Landry, whose client list also includes names like Mark Wahlberg and Rod Stewart, to create the ritzy lake sanctuary. According to the Wall Street Journal, the talented sax player had wanted to build an even bigger residence, but neighbors put the nix on it.
Coming to life for the Grammy award-winner in 1995 and changing hands in 1999, the gated 4.3-acre estate is like a vacation home wishlist incarnate. In-home gym? Check. Manicured landscaping and a sparkling pool? Check. High ceilings and tons of glass for lake views? Duh. For $70 million, you can bet the pad has just about everything. The main house boasts 12,000 square feet of living space, with additional structures like the beach house/guest cottage and staff house providing space and privacy for even more guests. It also has 327 feet of sweet shoreline, a prime stretch of the lake.
In the years since Kenny G played his last note here, perks like a decked-out dock that can accommodate a 150-foot yacht have been added. Just waiting for the next affluent owner to give it a new splashy talking point, the Washington property is listed with Tere Foster of Compass.
