Tucked in the Hollywood Hills, a coveted L.A. location, a unique property with architectural and celebrity allure just listed after being in the same hands since 1987. According to Wallpaper, that’s when filmmaker and director David Lynch, known for works like ‘Twin Peaks’ and ‘Mulholland Drive,’ acquired the iconic Beverly Johnson House that anchors it and began building on to the 2.3-acre, hillside spread. Lynch passed away this January at age 78, and now his family is selling his artful, longtime primary residence for $15 million.
Designed in 1963 by Frank Lloyd Wright’s son, Lloyd Wright, the Beverly Johnson House is defined by its blush-toned yet brutalist exterior. Inside, quintessential midcentury flair blooms with wood, glass, and touches of retro whimsy, such as the lime green kitchen countertops.
A story-teller and creative soul himself, Lynch clearly valued the property’s design integrity and architectural narrative. In the 1990s, he wrote its next chapter by commissioning yet another Lloyd Wright, Eric Lloyd Wright this time, to craft the pool and pool house. Additional structures were also built, including a two-story guest house and an extra one-bedroom living space. All in all, the cool compound, looking like something out of a Slim Aarons book, offers 10 bedrooms and roughly 11,000 square feet to utilize.
Rare to see, the David Lynch Compound is sure to draw in well-to-do buyers with a penchant for modernism or a thirst to put a Wright-connected property in their portfolio. Marc Silver of The Agency Beverly Hills represents the offering.
