Late Night Host Graham Norton Looks to Sell His Colorful Manhattan Carriage House

Tucked in a private, gated enclave in Murray Hill made up of nine former horse stables and carriage houses, a celebrity home with great personality is waiting for its next owner. Irish comedian and late night talk show host Graham Norton recently listed his dreamy mews house there. Much like the set of The Graham Norton Show on BBC, it doesn’t shy away from color and naturally evokes a playful feel with its bold style. A buyer with an appreciation of old homes and whimsical design can move right in, that is, if they have $5.595 million to spend.

Built in 1864 and situated in the center of Sniffen Court Mews, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, the 20-foot wide home has one thing that new developers in NYC can’t create: Historic character. It has a unique, well-preserved facade and has been restored impeccably to be a residence. Even more recently, it received a makeover by the famous seller.

Fun fact: Norton originally purchased the home in 2002 from German supermodel, Claudia Schiffer. In 2022, he commissioned a full renovation from the team at Gachot Studios to showcase his collection of art and introduce a livelier color palette. However, the townhouse is still defined by its architecture and good bones, which include double-height ceilings in the main living room and Parisian atelier-style sloping skylights.

The bright orange dining room, green kitchen, teal primary suite and bar, and blue powder room give a glimpse into Norton’s personal style. Of course, someone with more subdued sensibilities could always redo things, but where would be the fun in that? The chat-show host did seem to make the home’s additional bedroom more neutral, giving guests a calming sanctuary.

Another key place where tranquility comes first is the rooftop deck. Here, you can have dinner parties surrounded by green landscaping and city sounds.

Displaying a level of charm that the West Village is better known for, this Murray Hill townhouse is a hidden gem. Chris Kann of The Corcoran Group holds the listing.
