While Mark Zuckerberg continues to get heat for allegedly not protecting Facebook user’s personal information, he certainly seems a bit more on top of shielding his own. According to the Wall Street Journal, the social media billionaire dropped a total of $59 million on two adjacent properties on Lake Tahoe. Thanks to striking an uber private deal, Zuckerberg was able to keep it quiet for months, but now the secret’s out and you can check out his new getaway.
Located on an exclusive stretch of the lake that rarely has homes changing hands, these two properties give Zuckerberg 600 feet of prime waterfront real estate. One of the properties, called the Carousel Estate, boasts a circa-1930s home and a pier designed to accommodate a yacht. It has seven bedrooms and exudes sophistication, painted a light steely blue. Acquiring this reportedly cost the Facebook-founder $22 million, mere pennies compared to his astronomical net worth.
The home next door, called the Brushwood Estate, is more rustic and resembles a cabin-style mansion. It cost Zuckerberg far more at $37 million, which may have to do with the fact that it offers more acreage with 6.2 acres compared to the other’s 3.5 acres. The residence has a 5,322-square-foot main house, a guesthouse, and a lovely private dock. All together, it has six bedrooms.
