The 31-acre, circa-1969 property owned by the late leather-goods designers Arthur and Teddy Edelman, of Edelman Leathers, has hit the Ridgefield market for the first time ever, listed for $4.695 million. Best-known for high-end upholstery leathers, their firm, acquired by Knoll, once employed the as-yet unknown Andy Warhol as its graphic designer. The couple’s son, Sam, is also a leather man—he founded, and then sold, Sam & Libby’s, and now owns Sam Edelman, a high-end shoe company.Their family home was made from two dismantled 19th-century barns whose rustic boards were used for the interior walls. Barn-like in its spaces, the living room has a massive fireplace, 22-foot-high beamed ceilings and an adjoining enclosed porch. Another distinctive feature: an expansive greenhouse that uniquely attaches to the living room. Sally Slater of Douglas Elliman has the listing.
