A one-of-a-kind Hamptons residence that was featured in the July issue of HC&G is now on the market for $3.495 million. Co-owned by Tony-winning actor Rob Rifkin and playwright-screenwriter Jon Robin Baitz, the Bridgehampton property sits sandwiched between the homes of actors Ken Olin and Patricia Wettig, on one side, and Broadway director Joe Mantello on the other, making it an incredibly private artist’s escape. Friends and colleagues, Olin, Baitz, Rifkin, and Wettig all worked on the television series Brothers & Sisters together whilst sharing property lines. The compound was Mantello’s brainchild; he yearned for a “compound for like-minded theater-world souls.” Rifkin, Baitz, and their respective partners scooped up the adjacent parcel of land, and artist Jack Selgic, who has also been featured in HC&G, got to work designing their loft-like, modern haven. The result is an exquisite, 4,600-square-foot compound that blends the style of a classic Hamptons barn with that of a more urban loft (see more photos here!).The main house, a 4,200-square-foot stunner, consists of two parallel structures flanked by a deck and pool courtyard on either side and connected by a stainless steel kitchen. One contains two ensuite bedrooms and a library, while the other is an ideal gathering space since it boasts one fifty-foot long room with twenty-foot ceilings. A guesthouse offers Baitz and his partner privacy amidst the communal living.Susan Penzner and Myles Reilly of Saunders & Associates have the striking listing.
