Ski House Dreaming: Tour a Jaw-Dropping Mountain Home Asking $18.5M in Telluride, CO

It’s ski season in Telluride, and what better way to embrace the snowy weather than by cozying up in at a mountain retreat with insane views of surrounding peaks? Many A-list celebrities have seemingly had that mindset and called the beloved Colorado town home, including Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, and Jerry Seinfeld.

Other high-net-worth buyers with Telluride on the brain should check out this incredible residence designed and built by architect Jack Snow of RKD Architects. Named PaGomo, meaning ‘on the mountain’ in a South African dialect called Shana, the contemporary almost appears like a geological formation hugging the mountainside and is listed for $18.5 million.

Snow created this one-of-a-kind stunner from 2005 to 2007 with its first owners, who purchased the 35-acre plot for $2 million. Local stone harvested from a neighboring plot was cut and stacked to create the illusion of an extension of the earth. “It’s more of a sculpture than a house,” the architect told Mansion Global.

It features five bedrooms and six full bathrooms within 10,390 square feet, spread across several wings that are connected by three glass bridges. Stepping inside, curved wooden bow trusses and beams blend into the vaulted ceilings. A living room serves as the center of the home, with the north wing leading to the gym and game room, while the other two wings contain bedrooms and offices. These separated spaces feel like private pods. So, although there is a lot of ground to cover, it doesn’t feel impersonal.

There are many different outdoor lounging areas, whether on one of the tiered patios or balconies. And for anyone who loves cooking or bringing in a private chef, there’s an outdoor grill and wood-fired oven to enjoy aesthetic al fresco dinners.
