SUITE Seats

Breast Cancer Awareness has never looked this good

SUITE New York’s Pink Swan Project, launching this fall, will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation in style with an auction featuring 19 chairs created by innovators in interior design, architecture, and fashion. Each chair is infused with the designer’s unique style and personality, and the range of colors, textures, and fabrics, from metal chains to pink crystals and black feathers, makes for some delicious eye candy. One of my favorites is Alexandra von Furstenberg’s delectable neon pink creation.  Inspired by melted taffy, the chair is covered in strips of neon pink acrylic. The contrast between the sweet color and the hard plastic is playful, and the AVF logo and a large kiss print on the backrest make for a fun finish. I also love the sleek design by Windsor Smith. Inspired by Madonna’s corset as a symbol of empowerment for women, this piece features a shiny rose-gold “corset” that laces up the back of the chair and is set against a simple cream fabric. This piece is strong, stylish and sleekly sophisticated. If you appreciate a softer statement, perhaps D.B. Kim of PYR for Swarovski’s design would catch your eye. Inspired by “patterns of healing power,” light pink Swarovski crystals dangle off the back and underside of the chair. Delightfully delicate and feminine, this would be a sensual, pretty addition to any space—the boudoir perhaps? See all the chairs for yourself in the Gagosian Shop on Madison Avenue, where they will be on display starting October 1. If you want contribute to a worthy cause and grab one of these one-of-a-kind creations for yourself, the chairs will be auctioned on charitybuzz.com from October 1 to October 31.
