The famous Ennis House, inspired by the style of Mayan temples, is one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most recognizable creations. After being featured in films like Blade Runner and House on a Haunted Hill, the circa-1924 Los Angeles home officially joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Years later in 2011, billionaire Ron Burkle seized the opportunity to buy the home for $4.5 million and began a full restoration. Now, Curbed reports that the $17 million renovation is complete and Burkle is quietly seeking a buyer for $23 million.A quick glace at the hilltop home’s exterior is all it takes to grasp the structure’s unique aesthetic, but it’s even more spectacular inside. The tall ceilings, long hallways, and ornate wall carvings are no doubt fit for a Mayan king or queen. To really feel like royalty, indulge in lounging by the pool all day or throw a lavish dinner party in the massive dining room. While it may look like it was built to store treasure, Frank Lloyd Wright’s intricate design is the treasure itself. It’s easy to see why listing agents Branden and Rayni Williams of Hilton & Hyland and Ron De Salvo of Coldwell Banker are only showing the special home to prequalified buyers.
