The Obamas' New House Is Getting Some Major Security Upgrades

The Obamas won’t be going far when they leave the White House; the outgoing First Family has rented a $5.3M mansion in the ritzy Kalorama section of Washington, D.C. (only 2 blocks from Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s new house) and plan to stay in the city until youngest child Sasha finishes high school. Their new house is pretty impressive—boasting 9 bedrooms and bathrooms, an oversized terrace and private gardens—but PopSugar reports that it is getting some upgrades to prepare for its new residents. Ironically enough, the update includes building a brick wall outside the house to protect the family’s privacy. In addition, the garage will be converted into a home office with an additional bathroom. Perhaps the new home office will be for Michelle, since Barack Obama is leasing office space at the World Wildlife Fund headquarters.
